Kulangsu Gallery of Foreign Artefacts from the Palace Museum Collection

It is located at 68 and 80 Guxin Road, Kulangsu Island, and is now a major cultural heritage site protected at the national level. The two buildings are Former Hope Hospital and Nurses’ School. The former was the first general hospital on Kulangsu. The latter was the first nurses’ school in Southern Fujian. They witnessed the establishment and development of western medical facilities on Kulangsu between the late 19th century and the early 20th century. It is now used as the first local themed branch of the Palace Museum in Beijing to display foreign antiques from the Ming and Qing dynasties collected by the Palace Museum. It is a model for the conservation and utilization of historic buildings on Kulangsu.
