Huihe Stone Cultural Park in Xiamen

Huihe Stone Cultural Park is a designated reception point for the BRICS Xiamen Summit and a national AAA-level tourist attraction. Located in the center of Xiamen Island, Huihe Stone Cultural Park is a comprehensive scenic spot comprising stone carving art exhibition, art creation, cultural exchanges, tourism and leisure as well as education and learning, with such areas as Chinese stone culture corridor, celebrity stone carving art gallery, stone carving museum, gender culture exhibition, odd stone pavilion, the intangible cultural heritage item shadow sculpture embroidery, Huian female performance, and outdoor stone carving landscape.

Intangible cultural heritage — (Huihe) shadow sculpture

“Suzhou and Hangzhou embroidery with silk, but southern Fujian embroidery with stone” refers to Huihe shadow sculpture, which is selected into the Intangible Cultural Heritage List Fujian Province. Huihe shadow sculpture began in the Qing Dynasty and is a unique and innovative engraving technique incorporating the art of painting into the stone carving process on the basis of traditional “black and white stitch” technique.
