Qiansheng Bridge

Qiansheng Bridge - a covered bridge in northeastern Fujian. Qiansheng is across Tangxi Stream, which located in the northern Tangkou Village in Tangkou Town, Pingnan County. It was built during the reign of Emperor Lizong of the Southern Song Dynasty, and was rebuilt in 1820. On May 2006, Qiansheng Bridge, together with other 11 covered bridges in northeastern Fujian, has been listed as the sixth batch of national key protection unit. It stretches in south-north direction, with a length of 62.70 meters and a width of 4.90 meters. There are bridge abutments on each side and a wall inside of the arch bridge. It has one pier and two holes. The lengths of arch frames in the south and north are 28.74 meters and 26.48 meters. There are 99 pillars and 24 compartments in the bridge house, and there is shrine in the middle of the bridge house, which is used to offer sacrifice to Wuxianlingguan Emperor. There are benches on both sides of the bridge, with boards for passerby to get shelter from the sun. The beams of both ends of the bridge house used hip rafers to support hip rafers of the gable and hip roof, and the middle part was built in the post and lintel construction. The rest of the bridge house was under the gable and hip roof with single eave.
