The Tingzhou City Wall was built in the Dali fourth year of the Tang Dynasty. Tingzhou prefectural governor Chen Jian moved the Tingzhou Prefecture office from Dongfangkou to the site, “Building the Tucheng at the south side of Wolong Mountain”. The total length of the Tingzhou City Wall was 4,119 meters, but now it is 1,435 meters. It inherits the basic style of the northern Central Plains city wall and has a strong Hakka cultural characteristic. It winds down the east and west sides from the top of Wolong Mountain, connecting the ten gates, making half of Wolong Mountain circle into the city, just like the Buddha’s beads hanging around Guanyin Bodhisattva’s neck, which has become a rare human landscape in the world. In 2020, 13 monuments including city walls, pebble roads and stone floors were found in archeological exploration in the northern section of Chaotianmen.

It was announced as the seventh batch of national key cultural relic protection sites in May 2013.
