The site of Kingdom of Minyue lies in the southern corner of Xingtian Town, 24 kilometers away from south of Wuyi Palace Scenic Spot in Mount Wuyi, Fujian Province. Built in 202 B.C., stretching an area of 480,000 square meters with a rammed earth wall of 2,896 meters, it has a quite discernible outline. It is an important archaeological site marked by most intact preservation, largest scale, and largest number of unearthed cultural relics in South China. It was announced as among the first batch of cultural relics protection sites by the People’s Committee of Fujian Province in 1961, and was incorporated as among the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection sites by the State Council in November 1996. In December 1999, it was incorporated in the World Heritage List by UNESCO as a cultural site within the border of Mount Wuyi.
