Putian Methodist Cathedral

It was initiated in 1915 by American Methodist brothers, Jacob. G and David. G and put in service after 3 years. Facing south on 1,572 square meters, it has vaults, both flanks and vaulted stones of some doors and windows 0.03 m more outward than its walls. Its wooden doors and windows are all western-inspired, with eaves being protruding-style, cornices, added boards. Furthermore, its eaves have no flat roof, only with the square Gothic curtain line protruding from the wall set in the upper part of the stone wall all around. The hall is of 6-grid Howe type, featuring a middle span of three roof trusses, with a triangular structure containing two-truss row frame on either side. Its walls are laid in granite dressed stone, with its plinths double-grouted with diabase. Celebrated as one of the top four Christian churches at that time, it enjoyed protection among the fourth batch of cultural relics in Fujian.
