(By You Xiaochun/Fujian Daily) -- As one of the major events of the extended 44th session of the World Heritage Committee, the World Heritage Young Professionals Forum kicked off in Fuzhou on July 5. Under the theme of “World Heritage and Sustainable Livelihoods”, the Forum will highlight the importance of heritage for societies and livelihoods, and explore its great potential to contribute towards social, economic, and environmental goals.

From 5th to 9th July, 2021, the participating young expert representatives will focus on the three subthemes of “World Heritage: People and Governance”, “World Heritage: Tourism and Community Development”, and “World Heritage: Community Empowerment through Innovation” through keynote speeches, group discussions, group presentations, and case sharing. The Forum will finally draft an outcome document titled, “Youth Voices on World Heritage and Sustainable Livelihoods”, which will be presented at the session.

The World Heritage Young Professionals Forum aims to build a platform for global young talents and heritage experts to learn from each other and share knowledge, to help young people unlock their full potential and realize their responsibilities in heritage conservation, and promote the development of world heritage. Since 1995, the World Heritage Young Professionals Forum and the session of the World Heritage Committee have been held simultaneously every year.
